A little helping guide for anyone who is anxious about our wedding
What the heck is going on here??
This is totally not a normal wedding! In fact, we really consider it more of a party than a “wedding.” This means that instead of having a recognizable rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, etc, we’re planning a multi-day celebration where the energy, the blessings, the love will build over the course of our gathering, and culminate in a meaningful way.
But what’s happening when? I don’t want to miss the thing!
Your invites say the 8th-11th; we welcome you to arrive on the 8th and leave on the 11th. Activities and ceremony will happen across the days of the 9th and 10th, and we will let the new moon around sunset on the 10th mark the culmination of it all.
Where is it happening?
The location for our super-marriage-camping-party is officially Lake Pillsbury Resort*, in Potter Valley, CA. (More details)
(*Do not be fooled, it’s not a resort. It’s a campground.)
We know a camping trip sounds like a lot to coordinate – here’s what we are committed to providing for you.
Camping is so low-cost that we (thanks, mom & dad!) can afford to cover everybody’s campground or cabin rental. This means you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY YOUR OWN LODGING for the nights of the 8th, 9th, and 10th. If your trip extends beyond those nights, you’re on your own ;)
We are also committed to cooking massive group meals! We think we can manage this for two meals a day on the 9th and 10th, each. We also want to provide a “kitchen” of picnic groceries that anyone can use freely throughout.
And, we are going to help everybody coordinate their logistics. This means that we’ll set up channels for people to borrow and lend camping equipment; plan carpools from airports; and generally support each other’s needs. (More info on logistics)
Now, our ask to you…
What we want as our “wedding gifts” is for everyone to contribute **what they can** toward making this a loving, caring, mutually supportive GROUP EXPERIENCE. Once all RSVPS are in, we will send out PLENTY of communication regarding what this means, what kinds of donations will be helpful, and other things you can do to support this magical adventure.
I still don’t feel ready to RSVP.
That’s okay. And we’re so grateful that you’re in this with us even though it’s out of your comfort zone. We really do need you to send us an email, though, so that we can easily communicate with everyone at once. But hey – **your RSVP is allowed to be contingent, include questions, or let us know what factors are still making you unsure.**
And if you’re worried about anything, just call us! We’ll talk it through! Ultimately, if this trip doesn’t work for you, we understand with no hard feelings. With that said, let’s support each other through the adjustment to this QUIRKY event that none of us has a precedent for… and move on to the part where we all get to have a great time together! Remember, the whole point is love.

Please, oh please, apply for your ESTA visa waiver as soon as possible. We would be heartbroken if stupid US immigration kept you away from us. https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/
